DESCRIPTION At Jim Lawrence, we believe that your home deserves to look as good on the outside as it does on the inside, after all, what you choose to put outside serves as a taster of the beauty within. We think our much loved Westley Door Knocker in antiqued brass does the job superbly. A handsome, heavyweight, traditional door knocker made from solid, natural brass, the Westley has a pared down, contemporary feel that looks magnificent on any front door. Door knockers have been used on homes since Greek times when it was considered more polite for visitors to announce their presence with a loud rap on the door, rather than yelling. For centuries door knockers were made out of cast iron, but in the Georgian period brass became more affordable and fashionable. Our forged iron Westley has long been a Jim Lawrence favouite, so we decided to offer it in our signaure antiqued brass finish to complement our wide range of brass door furniture and because brass makes a wonderful addition to your outdoor fittings as it is an all-weather metal that won't rust and darkens naturally over time giving it a beautiful aged appearance that blends wonderfully with the natural tones in nature. PRODUCT INFORMATION Dimensions: 12W x 14H x 3D (cms)Suitability: Not suitable for composite doors.Additional information: The Westley Door Knocker may not be suitable for a composite door (depending on what material it is made from) as it is fitted with screws and may be too heavy for the outer layer. In this case we recommend our Lion's Head, Melton and Doctor's door knockers as these are fitted with a bolt and nut that goes right through the door.Finish: Antiqued brass - a beautiful, natural finish produced by gently distressing the brass to create a soft patina that is then treated with antiquing solution to speed up the natural tarnishing process and create a lovely aged look that will darken naturally over time. Antiqued Brass is an incredibly versatile finish that works well with any colourway and natural building materials and looks equally at home in a modern property as it does a period one.
