Handcrafted at our Suffolk workshops, the Sofia is made from high quality forged iron in a choice of finishes and features a central shade arm that supports the lamp holder, and comes supplied with a cylinder shade in Limestone Waterford Linen. This version is finished in beeswax, a traditional method for darkening metal that has been used since the 15th century that gives the pendant a lovely soft black appeal.

Finish: Beeswax - a traditional metalworking technique used since Tudor times. The metal is heated until it darkens and then dipped in natural beeswax which gives is a lovely soft black wrought iron effect which looks fabulous in any traditional or contemporary interior. As beeswax is a natural finish that reacts with the underlying metal during the forging process, it often has a subtle, slightly mottled patina with undertones of deep grey or ochre. It is not waterproof, so will need to be rewaxed occasionally.
Kindly note, we do not recommend the beeswax finish for use in a humid environment, as it is harder to maintain and may rust. We feel Matt Black is a preferable option.
