Handcrafted from high quality forged iron and finished in Polished Lacquer, it has a hefty, hammered design that will personalise your door while giving it that lovely ‘lived in’ feel that only hand made products can bring. These bolts have a fabulous, tactile quality that you feel whenever you handle them and a classic design that suits modern and period properties. All Jim Lawrence products are made using traditional metal working techniques and are hand finished to the highest standards at our Suffolk workshop. This Groton is polished to a deep, gunmetal grey for a contemporary look and has a straight shank that is designed to fit onto doors that are fixed flush with the frame, as opposed to a ‘cranked’ door bolt which has a ‘stepped’ neck to lock doors that are recessed into the frame. The Groton door bolt can be used vertically or horizontally and comes supplied with fixing screws and a mortice and keep in the same finish. To produce the finish, we coat our steel products in a metallic lacquer that emulates the texture and patina of iron and gives the product great character that looks wonderful with grey or natural colourways and works particularly well with other metallic finishes such as nickel.
