DESCRIPTION
Complete your window dressing with our 38mm classic curtain pole in our traditional black Beeswax finish, for a lovely soft, wrought iron look that will suit modern and period homes alike. These curatin rods are made to measure from premium quality, high strength steel tubing and are suitable for large windows and heavy weight curtains. The finials are substantial and heavy and will not suit small windows. We also make a wide range of complementary finials, brackets and rings for you to choose from.  All our made to measure poles are hollow so the finials slot inside them and are fixed by grub screws.

Differing Beeswax finish
Our beeswax is a completely natural finish, created by heating the steel in the forge and coating it with molten beeswax. Because the poles have a smooth surface, the beeswax doesn't adhere to them as well as it does to the finials, brackets and rings so they often have a shiner and slightly lighter tone than the accessories. In practice, customers don't normally find this a problem once their poles and curtains are hung and many prefer a natural finish, but if you are after a more uniform look, please consider matt black finish instead.

We do not recommend a beeswax finish for use in a humid environment, as it is harder to maintain and may rust. We feel that Matt Black is the preferable option.

FINISH

Beeswax: A traditional technique used since Tudor times. The metal is heated until it darkens and then dipped in natural beeswax which gives is a lovely soft black wrought iron effect which looks fabulous in any traditional or contemporary interior. As beeswax is a natural finish that reacts with the underlying metal during the forging process, it often has a subtle, slightly mottled patina with undertones of deep grey or ochre. It is not waterproof, so will need to be re-waxed occasionally. To find out more about our finishes and how best to maintain them, please read our Keeping Beeswax Clean page in the Jim Lawrence Knowledge Base.

FAQS

DO I NEED A CENTRE BRACKET?

12mm Poles - the maximum length we would recommend without using a central bracket is 150cm

19/20/25/38mm Poles - the maximum length we would recommend without using a central bracket is 180cm.

DO I NEED AN EXTENDED BRACKET?

If you have an architrave, window frame or radiator that sits particularly proud of your walls, you may need an extended bracket to ensure your curtains hang in front of them. They are double the depth of our normal brackets.

WHAT DO I NEED FOR A RECESSED WINDOW?

If you have a window without a facing wall to fix your pole to, you will need to use a pole with recessed brackets, or you can use a side fixing dormer rod. For more information, see our Dormer Rod Guide >.

HOW MANY PARTS WILL MY POLE BE SUPPLIED IN?

Any length of pole can be ordered, but once over 180cm for a beeswax pole and 210cm for other finishes, the pole will be supplied in two (or more) equal parts with a joining rod. The join will be covered by your central bracket.
