In an age when adornment was unaffordable for most, blacksmiths designed home fittings to be as pretty as they were practical, so these heavy duty hinges will not only look good on your doors, but should last a lifetime. Shown above in our beeswax finish, this 50cm Heavy Duty T hinge is made in our forge and then dipped in hot beeswax for a classic soft black finish that has been used since Tudor times. All Jim Lawrence products are made using traditional metalworking techniques that have been passed down through the generations and are hand finished to the highest standards at our Suffolk workshops. This hinge is a combination of strap and butt hinge and is thicker (6mm) than the other hinges in the range as it has been specially designed for heavier doors. Supplied with fixing screws in the same finish. Hinges sold separately. When fitting, we recommend you drill a pilot hole – or small starting hole - for each screw first.
