Crafted from high grade forged iron and traditionally beeswaxed for a soft, black finish, it has a weighty tactile quality that feels as good in the hand as it looks on your door.All Jim Lawrence products are made using traditional metal working techniques and are finished to the highest standard at our Suffolk workshop. The Finsbury’s simple, pared down design is ideal for modern properties or to update traditional ones. We make a range of door and window furniture in the same finish for a complementary look around your home. Kindly note, we do not recommend the beeswax finish for bathrooms or outdoor use as it will rust in a humid environment. We feel that Matt Black is the preferable option. TIPS FOR FITTINGDrill a pilot holeSee our Screw Fitting Guide FINISH Beeswax: A traditional technique used since Tudor times. The metal is heated until it darkens and then dipped in natural beeswax which gives is a lovely soft black wrought iron effect which looks fabulous in any traditional or contemporary interior. As beeswax is a natural finish that reacts with the underlying metal during the forging process, it often has a subtle, slightly mottled patina with undertones of deep grey or ochre. It is not waterproof, so will need to be rewaxed occasionally.
