What style of table lamps are available?



At Jim Lawrence, we have large and small table lamps for every space and a wide choice of designs to suit every taste.
Our stick or column table lamps are always popular as they show off the lampshade and don't take up too much space.
Glass table lamps bring a bright and ariy look to a room and are fabulous at reflecting any available light whether switched on or off.

What size shade do I need for my table lamp?


As a rough guide, we suggest you measure the height of your table lamp from the bottom of the base to the top of the stem just below the lamp holder. The shade you select should have a diameter plus or minus 5cm of this measured height. For example, if you have a lamp base that is 40cm tall, a shade that is round 35-45cm wide should be the right proportion.

What shape lampshade do I need?


Generally we believe the shape of hte shade should reflect the shape of your lamp base. If the base is angular, square or rectangular then a similar shaped shade that reflects its lines may look better than a round one. If your lamp base is rounded or curvy then a circular or oval shape may suit its better. Our column-style table lamps are the most versatile as they suit any style of shade.

How tall are your table lamps?



Our table lamps come in all shapes and sizes but as a quick guide;
  • The tallest table lamp we manufacture is the Chiswick, which is 69cm to the top of the lamp holder.
  • The shortest table lamp we currently offer is the Salisbury at 37cm.

Why are LED bulbs a better option for table lamps?


  • Table lamps are often on throughout the day so finding an energy efficient bulb is essential to keep costs down. 
  • LEDs use up to 90% less power which makes them environmentally friendly and kind to your wallet. 
  • LED bulbs have a longer lifespan than other types of bulbs - typically up to 60,000 hours so you don't have to change them as frequently.
  • They don't give off as much heat as traditional bulbs so are kinder to fabric shades.
  • LED bulbs are available with have varied colour temperatures from warm to cool and most are dimmable.
