DESCRIPTION Our beautiful Single Smugglers Wall Light has a simple elegance and period detailing that is the very essence of country modern living and will look wonderful on the walls of any kitchen, dining room, bedroom or hallway. Hand forged from high quality steel that is beeswaxed for a rustic black look, it has a wonderful, weighty quality that befits its handmade nature and its dainty proportions make it ideal for use in any home, whether period or modern. Our take on a classic design, the Smugglers features generous drip trays and strap detailing on the backplate which harks back to the leather straps that were used to hold candle sconces in cottages and inns during Georgian times. All our lights are made using traditional metal working techniques and are hand finished to the very highest standards here at our Suffolk workshop.This is a flush fitting light so you may need to use an architrave box and reducer lid behind the backplate to hide the wiring if you cannot make a cavity in your wall - see Our Backplates Explained.We recommend our LED Clear Candle Bulb as the perfect accompaniment to your light as it is designed to replicate the traditional look of an incandescent bulb, lights up instantly, is dimmable and will flood your room with a soft warm light. The metal is heated until it darkens and then dipped in natural beeswax which gives is a lovely soft black wrought iron effect which looks fabulous in any traditional or contemporary interior. As beeswax is a natural finish that reacts with the underlying metal during the forging process, it often has a subtle, slightly mottled patina with undertones of deep grey or ochre.
