Single Morston Light, Antiqued Brass, Clear Glass

Item No. 370AAB
7.5W x 25H x 14D (cm)
A contemporary take on a traditional oil lamp, our Single Morston Wall Light has become a design classic. With its hand blown glass shade in a choice of clear or fluted styles and simple bevelled backplate, it has a country modern feel that will look equally at home in an industrial style loft conversion or sitting room as it would a country kitchen.

Displaying a generously sized glass shade and simple, unadorned candle tube holder, the Single Morston is an excellent alternative to traditional wall lighting with fabric lampshades.  All Jim Lawrence lights are made using traditional metal working techniques and are hand finished to the very highest standards here at our Suffolk workshop. This Morston has been finished in our antiqued brass to give is subtle, aged look.
  • The shade is included in the price of the light and can be frosted on request.
  • We recommend our LED Clear Candle bulb as the best lamp fitting to accompany your light as it has the look of a heritage bulb but with modern energy economy. The bulb lights up to full strength instantly, will flood your room with a soft warm light, is dimmable and has a lumens (brightness) that is equivalent to a 40W regular bulb.
Please note, this glass is a natural resource and as each piece is individually handmade slight imperfections may occasionally occur such as ripples and small bubbles.

Finish

Antiqued Brass: A beautiful, natural finish produced by distressing the brass to create a soft patina that is then treated with antiquing solution to speed up the natural tarnishing process and create a lovely aged look that will darken naturally over time. Antiqued Brass is an incredibly versatile finish that works well with any colourway and natural building materials such as brick, stone, plaster or woodwork and looks equally at home in a modern property as it does a period one.

Where does it look good?

  • Antique Brass will catch the light more than our painted finishes so is great to use if you want to make a statement, as it will help draw your eye.
  • Our Single Morstons have a contemporary edge to their design that looks fabulous in a kitchen or dining space, or to light up a conservatory.
  • Try hanging them in a row along a wall in a hallway, bedroom or landing for maximum visual impact.

  • Remember to order bulbs
Be aware that you need small bayonet bulbs, B15's, so make sure you order them, don't be like us!
  • Check that a flush plate fixture will work on your wall
These lights are indeed gorgeous, the nicest we could find. However, when we purchased them (not being electricians) we had not anticipated the challenge of fitting them. As the plate is flush and there are no screws through the plate, you need to have a cavity behind the fitting to allow the cabling to reside. The fixture 'hangs's from a bracket, which makes sliding it on a challenge, we scratched the paint work. We now have it hanging on a screw (rather than the provide braket) and had to make a big cavity behind. That said, they look fab!
  • Beautiful wall lights
Just fitted three into an old cottage. They look great . Neat design easy to fix.
