DESCRIPTION
Achieve the quintessential country cottage look to your home with our beautiful hand-forged T Hinges in a choice of lengths and finishes for the perfect finish to your door. Nothing sums up the look and feel of a period home than the classic, handcrafted metalwork that was used to adorn it. In an age when adornment was unaffordable for most, blacksmiths designed home fittings to be as pretty as they were practical, so these heavy duty hinges will not only look good on your doors, but should give you many years of service.

Shown above in our beeswax finish, this Pin hinge is made in our forge and then dipped in hot beeswax for a classic soft black finish that has been used since Tudor times. These hinges are a combination of strap and butt hinges, suitable for hanging most sized doors as well as cabinets and trunk or chest lids. They are generally used in pairs fitted to the top and bottom of your door, but for heavier doors you may need to use a third in the middle. We also make a Heavy Duty 50cm Hinge for larger or heavier doors.
  • Supplied with fixing screws in the same finish
  • When fitting, we recommend you drill a pilot hole – or small starting hole - for each screw first.  For more advice, please see our Screw Fitting Guide >
We do not recommend the beeswax finish for bathrooms or outdoor use, as it may rust in a humid environment.

PRODUCT INFORMATION

Dimensions: 41W (39m strap & 2cm butt) 11H (cms)
Finish: Beeswax - A traditional metalworking technique used since Tudor times. The metal is heated until it darkens and then dipped in natural beeswax which gives it a lovely soft black wrought iron effect that looks fabulous in any traditional or contemporary interior. As beeswax is a natural finish that reacts with the underlying metal during the forging process, it often has a subtle, slightly mottled patina with undertones of deep grey or ochre. It is not waterproof, so will need to be re-waxed occasionally. For more information please see our Product Finishes > pages.
