What works with bronze metallic?

In our efforts to bring you a wider choice of finishes for your Jim Lawrence fittings, we are thrilled to show off our band new Bronze Metallic lustre. It is a beautiful metallic painted finish with deep undertones of green, black and gold that creates the look of naturally aged bronze. To produce it, we coat our steel products in a metallic lacquer that is applied in a powder coating process that produces a smooth, hardwearing surface. The lustre emulates the texture and patina of bronze and gives the product a classic finish that suits both modern and traditional settings.

Aldgate Wall Light

As a metal, Bronze has a rich and ancient history that was so influential in human development that it gave its name to an archaeological period - the Bronze Age. An alloy of copper and tin, its discovery enabled people to make metal objects that were harder and more durable than previously thought possible, so was used in the making of tools, weapons, armour and art.

COMPLEMENTS NATURAL GARDEN TONES

Bronze Metallic makes a wonderful addition to your outdoor lighting scheme as its golden/green undertones blend beautifully in a garden setting, making it an ideal choice for your exterior lights. This finish is one of those intriguing ones that looks a different colour on different days according to the play of light on it. Some days it is dark brown, others more golden brown and others still, a green brown. Darker than brass, yet softer than matt black, it combines well with both to create a considered, modern rustic appeal.

Our generously proportioned Somerton Wall Lantern is much beloved by garden designers looking for elegant lighting ideas as it pays homage to the beautifully decorative wall lighting of the Georgian period where glass mirrors where often used on indoor and outdoor wall lights to project and reflect candle light to make spaces feel brighter and warmer. This wall sconce's classical proportions and clean lines make it an ideal choice for introducing elegant period detailing to any home or garden space.

Likewise, the ever popular Coach Lantern is a handsome exterior wall light that takes inspiration from the traditional carriage lanterns found on 19th century horse drawn coaches. With its hand pressed glass panes and forged iron details it offers a country cottage appeal that suits a modern garden landscape as much as a traditional one.

COMBINE WITH WARM METALLICS

Bronze is characterised by its metallic gold brown colour that, depending on its copper content, can develop a Verdigris coating with age. Like its 'warm metallic' cousins, brass and copper, bronze makes a beautiful addition to your home, giving a classic, understated look to lighting, fixtures and fittings. In modern kitchen and bathroom designs, bronze is often incorporated as tap fittings, switches and sockets and lighting where it adds a subtle touch of luxury without being overbearing.

Try our Suffolk Latch in Bronze Metallic for kitchen doors, larders, pantries or larger kitchen cupboards and combine with our antiqued brass cupboard and drawer handles, like the Larder Drawer Pull for a smart, up-to-date look.

OPT FOR HERITAGE COPPER

Our bronze metallic brings a feeling of depth, warmth and a statuesque elegance to your home as exemplified by our Albion Spotlight that brings the perfect blend of classic and industrial to a kitchen design. With its wrap around ‘hood’, the Albion is a great tasking light to illuminate specific areas of your kitchen such as a work surface, cabinets or kitchen island, and works well with our handsome Large and Small Napier Cupboard knobs in heritage copper.

A firm Jim Lawrence favourite, the Napiers create instant style wherever they are fitted as they exude a sense of heritage style and lovely 'lived in' feel, with a fabulous, tactile quality that never fails to please you when you handle them.

A POP OF COLOUR AGAINST NEUTRALS

As it is a fairly neutral colourway, bronze can be combined efficiently with a number of different colours. It makes the perfect partner for white, cream, clay and ivory kitchen cabinets where it adds a pop of warmth and bold splash of colour.

PAIR WITH INKY TONES & EARTHY REDS

Bronze also combines well with darker colours like Teal, inky blues and dark green as they bring out the subtle shine of the metal. Mossy or forest green shades are highly desirable with bronze as they take their cue from nature.

Warm reds like Burgundy and earthy hues of orange, gold and brown make a great match for bronze as they bring out the reddish hue of the metal. Mix it with other warm metals like antiqued brass and heritage copper to dial up the feeling of a sumptuously rich, elegant finish.

SOFT FURNISHINGS

Complement your bronze metallic fittings with plush cushions, elegant blinds, curtains and the flicker of candlelight that never fails to conjure up a feeling of cosiness and warmth. Our collection of luxury cushion covers come in a range of colours and fabrics, from sumptuous velvets, textured linen, classic cottons and heritage tweeds; while our newly extended range of candles now include luxury scented candles by Royal candle makers - Charles Farris.
