ABOUT OUR BAY POLES

CUSTOM MADE FOR THE PERFECT FIT

Our strong, effortlessly stylish bay poles are custom-made to your exact requirements from high quality steel here at our Suffolk workshops. We offer them in two sizes - 20mm and 25mm - and in a range of our signature finishes and finial designs so you can achieve the perfect look for your interior.

FINISHES - Our bay poles are available in a choice of our most popular pole finishes – Beeswax, Matt Black, Polished, Clay, Old Ivory and Mercury. For more information, see our Product Finish pages.

FINIALS - We offer a wide range of handcrafted finials in traditional and modern designs to ensure they perfectly complement your forged iron pole.

BRACKETS - Choose from our classic Chapel, decorative Brett and versatile Sleeve brackets that work alongside our clever Adjustable Passing Brackets and rings to allow your curtains to pass across the full width of your bay window.

We also manufacture a range of extended brackets for poles that need to extend over protrusions such as a deep skirting board, window sill, architrave or radiators; or you can choose to have your brackets made to your bespoke requirements.

HOW TO ORDER A BAY POLE

You can easily order a bay pole by following the instructions below and our easy-to-read, step-by-step guides on how to measure for a 1,2,4 or continuous curve bay window. We tell you how to create a template and fill out the appropriate form so we can raise a quote.

1. PHOTOGRAPH

Please provide a photograph of the bay window that requires the pole, ensuring it is not obscured by furniture. This helps us gain a good visual idea of your requirements.

2. TEMPLATE

Create a paper template using our step by step guide below. Please keep in mind a paper template will need to follow the wall line and state if it has been made against the wall or skirting board. If made against the skirting board, we need to know the depth of the board from the wall.

3. COMPLETE THE FORMS

Click on your bay pole style from the 4 options below and complete the 2 forms that are attached. Please return them, along with your photograph and paper template to us so we can create a quote for you. If your bay is an unusual design please call us on 01473 826685 to discuss your requirements. STEP 1.  HOW TO MAKE A PAPER TEMPLATE

For instructions on how to make a paper template for your bay window, please read our guide

Use something robust like brown paper or wallpaper to make your template. Baking parchment or newspaper is too flimsy and is likely to tear.

FAQS

HOW MUCH WILL A BAY POLE COST?

When our team have all the information they need, they will work out the cost of making your pole and raise a quote, including the number of brackets required and your chosen finials and accessories.

HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE?

As a bespoke product, the lead time is a maximum of 4 weeks from the date your order is placed.

DO YOU MAKE BAY POLES IN BRASS?

We do not make bay poles in brass because the high quality brass that we use is a natural metal that is too soft and heavy to be suitable for making bends.

HOW WILL MY POLE BE SUPPLIED?

Your bay pole will be supplied in 2 equal parts with joiner rods that are secured in place by grub screws. If particularly large, it may be in 3 parts. The brackets will hide the joins. The poles are wrapped and packed into sleeves with the brackets, rings and accessories boxed separately for ease of delivery.

CAN YOU MAKE CEILING FITTED POLES?

Yes, you can use our sleeve brackets on a ceiling and we can adapt our Adjustable Passing Brackets for use on a ceiling.

CAN YOU EXTEND BRACKETS?

We can extend brackets to your specifications. All bracket measurements need to be from the wall to the back of the pole. Our standard bracket projections are:
  • 20mm pole – 40mm from wall to back of pole.
  • 25mm pole – 47mm from wall to back of pole.

HOW MANY BRACKETS DO I NEED?

All bay window poles require 3 brackets minimum. They normally go up in pairs. Bay window brackets are generally required every 150cm unless you specifically request otherwise. Example: a reasonable size 4 bend bay would have 5 brackets 1 centre, 2 end and 2 passing.

WHAT IS YOUR PASSING SYSTEM?

Our Adjustable Passing Brackets are designed to clasp your pole and allow our 'C' shaped Stoke Passing Rings to pass over the bends so that you can fully draw your curtains.  Our standard Stoke Rings are used between the end bracket and finial to anchor your curtains in place.
