Islay Escutcheon Plate & Flap in Beeswax (discontinued, only stock shown available)
Reminiscent of a shield, or suit of spades in a deck of cards, our Islay Escutcheon plate is a nod to our gothic inheritance. Hand cast from solid steel and featuring a similarly shaped flap that will add a decorative touch as well as keep out draughts, the Islay will add a subtle, but delightful, touch of grandeur to your door.
This version has been finished in beeswax, a traditional technique used since Tudor times. The metal is heated until it darkens and then dipped in natural beeswax which gives is a lovely soft black wrought iron effect which looks fabulous in any traditional or contemporary interior.
The Islay is 5cm high and 3.5cm wide and is suitable for use indoors. It makes the perfect companion to our other beeswax door furniture and is also available in matt back or polished lacquer and in an antiqued brass version.
Kindly note, we do not recommend the beeswax finish for bathrooms or outdoor use, as it may rust in a humid environment. We feel that Matt Black is the preferable option.
