We are so excited about our handsome new Hoxton Wall Light in Antiqued Brass which we feel has the appeal of our bestselling Barbican Pendant but designed as a wall sconce. With its simple lines and vintage detailing, it would look as good in the best hotels, bars and restaurants as it would in your kitchen, study or hallway.

Hand crafted from solid, natural brass that has been lightly antiqued for a subtle, aged look and featuring a spun shade which directs its light downwards, the Hoxton is a design classic with a timeless quality that looks equally at home in both contemporary and period settings. Fit it in your lounge or dining room to create a relaxed atmosphere or use it for focused tasking over a kitchen unit or console table.

For the complete collection, see our Hoxton and Barbican Range

All Jim Lawrence lights are made using traditional metal working techniques and are hand finished to the very highest standards here at our Suffolk workshop.
  • We recommend our Classic GLS LED Bulb as the perfect accompaniment to your light as it has the look of a heritage bulb, lights up to full strength instantly, fills your room with soft white light and is dimmable.
  • This is a flush fitting light, so if you do not have room in your wall to hide the wiring, you may need to use our Georgian Lighting Pattress to give added depth to the backplate.
  • For more information, see our guide - Our Back plates Explained.

Finish

Antiqued Brass: A beautiful, natural finish produced by distressing the brass to create a soft patina that is then treated with antiquing solution to speed up the natural tarnishing process and create a lovely aged look that will darken naturally over time. Antiqued Brass is an incredibly versatile finish that works well with any colourway and natural building materials such as brick, stone, plaster or woodwork and looks equally at home in a modern property as it does a period one. To lighten the brass just buff it occasionally with a small amount of brass cleaner to return it to its original hue.

Maintaining the finish

To clean the brass, we recommend using a small amount of soapy water and/or buffing it with beeswax or a good quality wax polish to help protect the finish.  Some of our antiqued brass products, particularly those that have any kind of spun shade, are particularly susceptible to fingerprints, if handled without the use of gloves.   They are very easy to remove with a green scotch-brite pad and we will be more than happy to send one if you don’t already have one at home.   Simply, gently brush the surface of the product with the pad, going with the grain of the finish, so there is an even tone over the whole surface. Then buff with a soft cotton cloth.

Where does it look good?

  • Hung on walls between windows or in alcoves to create lovely layers of lighting in a living or dining room.
  • Either side of a fireplace, mantelpiece and chimney breast or any architectural feature you wish to highlight.
  • Used to create cosy bedtime lighting on either side of your bed for dressing table mirror.
