How to Clean Beeswax

Finish

Beeswax: A traditional technique used since Tudor times. The metal is heated until it darkens and then dipped in natural beeswax which gives is a lovely soft black wrought iron effect which looks fabulous in any traditional or contemporary interior. As beeswax is a natural finish that reacts with the underlying metal during the forging process, it often has a subtle, slightly mottled patina with undertones of deep grey or ochre. It is not waterproof, so will need to be rewaxed occasionally.

Kindly note, we do not recommend the beeswax finish for use in a humid environment, as it is harder to maintain and may rust. We feel Matt Black is a preferable option.

  • globe pendant
Both my husband and I loved the globe pendant light in beeswax in the catalogue and thought two would be perfect in our newly renovated bedroom. Needless to say, they were! I have to say, the whole buying experience was pretty much perfect. The staff are delightful and nothing is too much trouble. I had to send the first one back as the chain and flex were not quite long enough. Absolutely no problem and it was replaced along with the second light within two weeks with the length I requested. The product itself is extremely well crafted and came beautifully boxed and cocooned in lots of airy packaging. Many thanks to the team at Jim Lawrence.
