Complete your window dressing with our 12mm classic curtain pole in our traditional black Beeswax finish, for a lovely soft, wrought iron look that will suit modern and period homes alike. These poles are made to measure from premium quality, high strength steel tubing and are suitable for small windows or lightweight curtains. We also make a wide range of complementary finials, brackets and rings for you to choose from.

Maximum length we can supply a beeswax pole in once piece: 210cm
Any length of pole can be ordered, but once over 210cm for beeswax, it will be supplied in two or more equal parts with joiners because anything over this length will not fit into the forge.

Differing Beeswax finish
Our beeswax is a completely natural finish, created by heating the steel in the forge and coating it with molten beeswax. Because the poles have a smooth surface, the beeswax doesn't adhere to them as well as it does to the finials, brackets and rings so they often have a shiner and slightly lighter tone than the accessories. In practice, customers don't normally find this a problem once their poles and curtains are hung and many prefer a natural finish, but if you are after a more uniform look, please consider matt black finish instead.

All our made to measure poles are hollow so the finials slot inside them and are fixed by grub screws. If your pole is over 200cm long it is likely to require a centre bracket to help support the weight and stop it dipping in the middle when the curtains are closed.

We do not recommend a beeswax finish for use in a humid environment, as it is harder to maintain and may rust. We feel that Matt Black is the preferable option.

Finish

Beeswax: A traditional technique used since Tudor times. The metal is heated until it darkens and then dipped in natural beeswax which gives is a lovely soft black wrought iron effect which looks fabulous in any traditional or contemporary interior. As beeswax is a natural finish that reacts with the underlying metal during the forging process, it often has a subtle, slightly mottled patina with undertones of deep grey or ochre. It is not waterproof, so will need to be re-waxed occasionally. To find out more about our finishes and how best to maintain them, please read our Keeping Beeswax Clean page in the Jim Lawrence Knowledge Base.
